A Dance Festival of Women - Nangiar Koothu

Koodiyattam performed traditionally by the Chakyars spawned the Nangiar Koothu that could be peformed only by the Chakyar’s wife, the Nangiar or Nangyaramma. Now there are no such caste restrictions but the tradition of gender remains.
